Local Information
Our bed and breakfast is close to all town centre shops, market and pubs. Bolsover Castle, a 17th century house, which was the work of William Cavendish, is less than five minutes away by car. We are only a short stroll away from Fidlers, but for real ale fans we strongly recommend the Blue Bell Inn on High Street, where there is always a good range of beers available. The pub is becoming famous (or infamous some say) for its “Neglected Shed” beer festival, the next one is scheduled for 16,17 and 18th of May 2008. Hardwick Hall, said to have “more glass than wall”, built by Countess Elizabeth of Shrewsbury (but more usually known as Bess of Hardwick) in 1597, is well worth a visit and is only about three miles from Bolsover. Our Bolsover bed and breakfast is ideally situated for sightseeing and shopping in Chesterfield, with its unique Crooked Spire, touring the Peak District, Chatsworth House, Creswell crags and Meadowhall. |
